In the wake of the unsuspecting outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic and the dire consequences on nations, Sadiq Abdulai Abu, Chief Executive of 3Media Network has noted that the corona downtime is terrible.

The situation he described as having dire straits on the future of businesses in the arts because of the uncertainties the pandemic posed to the society.

Assessing the effect COVID-19 has brought on the arts and showbiz in Ghana with, Abu Sadiq intimated that the impact is terrible.

“Hmmm, the Corona downtime is terrible, trust me. Most didn’t see it coming or didn’t even anticipate it to be one of “acts of God” that will throw plans off-board and create an uncertain future for businesses in the arts,” he said.

He has further highlighted the freeze the virus has brought on activities and how minds seem to be on lockdown and finding ways out of the uncertainty.

Amidst the pandemic, he is however optimistic that God will help with a way out adding that COVID-19 will definitely affect gigs, as players in the arts often rely on new gigs to survive.

“Either it delays the gigs or it cancels it off altogether. In the second instance, it will mean losing out on the annual targets whilst incurring more debts.

“It’s crazy but I choose to be more optimistic of the future and hope God gives us the infinite wisdom to find a way out of it all,” Abu Sadiq stated.

The Chief Executive of 3Media Network, organizers of the 3Music Awards has last Tuesday, April 14, 2020, announced that this year’s main event was scheduled to be held at the Fantasy Dome will now be held virtually on Friday, April 24, 2020.

The decision which was arrived at due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic with the ban on public gathering still in force will be live on Joy Prime, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and all partnering web platforms.
