I Haven’t Received A Penny From GHAMRO; Six Years in The Industry with Three Albums – Akesse Brempong

Gospel reggae and worship leader, Akesse Brempong has revealed he has never received any payment from Ghana Music Rights Organization – GHAMRO after joining the royalty collection agency six (6) years ago.

The musician with three (3) released albums, Songs in the Night album in 2014, West Hills Live in 2017, and Heal Our Land in 2019 told Dr. Cann on Happy Fm that the royalty collection system in Ghana is a big problem and needs to be looked at again.

“For my six years of being in the industry, with my three albums, I haven’t received a penny from them. I am a fully registered member and they can cross-check their records,” he said.

“There is something wrong with our royalty collection and distribution systems in Ghana and they need to have it looked at because it is a big problem. That is even why young artists are now going digital. Over there, if I want to check the number of plays, I’ve had on my song and how much money I’ve made, I can just log in and I’ll see it all for myself”, he added.

Akesse Brempong advised GHAMRO to invest in going digital since that is the direction the world going which will allow musicians flexibility and transparency in their earnings.
