Ghanaian music producer cum engineer Hammer has asked Ghanaian musicians to focus on their craft and music than the obsession with awards, especially with the Grammys.
Contributing to the Grammy conversation which became topical in the Ghanaian space after Burna Boy and Wizkid won this year’s awards, Hammer on Class Fm explained the cumbersome nature and difficulty in winning just one category being competed for by the whole continent.

“It’s not something they should look up to. I think they should make great music and when they are wired around the world and on a big label, they will find themselves at the Grammys,” he said.
He bemoaned the poor industry structures and revealed his aim to educate up-and-coming musicians on the business side of the trade.

He added: “The structures are wrong and we are not going to wait for somebody to vote us into power before we educate people”.
