My Mandate Is To Change the Industry in Two Years – Dr Awal

The newly appointed Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal has disclosed to stakeholders the mandate given to him by the president of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.

During a stakeholders meeting, the minister revealed he has been given a two-year mandate to change the creative industry.

“…he (Nana Akufo-Addo) has given me two years to change the industry and that is what I will do,” he said.

The meeting which was held on Friday, June 25, 2021, at the Accra Tourism Information Centre – ATIC in Accra brought together players in the creative arts industry such as actors/actresses, musicians, media personalities, musicians among others.

Dr. Awal used the stakeholders’ meeting to familiarize with the creative arts players, know their concerns and find ways of addressing them.

He has also appealed to the stakeholders to identify and furnish the ministry with two key projects that could be achieved within two years.

“Let us start with two projects, put that together and let me have it. What I can say is that the President is ready to make things happen,” he added.

Dr. Awal assured the stakeholders of his continuous support and his preparedness to learn and learn fast to move the industry forward with the support of everyone.
