Another edition of the Damsels on Fire Tour took place in the Osu metropolis on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

 

A volunteering initiative which was founded by Rachael Wyettey is to empower, educate and equip young women in communities and in the various Senior High Schools in Ghana to explore, break limits and lead fulfilling lives before becoming mothers and or marriage.

 

The Greater Accra edition of the tour started on June 15, 2019, with a visit to Ga Mashie.

During their visit to Osu, a suburb of Accra, the young women volunteers took time to educate other young women in the community on the benefits of the internet (including social media), taking advantage of technology to transforming lives and the need to be mindful of the usage of social media.

The delighted Racheal Wyettey who was full of excitement about the progress and the impact the initiative is bringing to these young ladies in the various communities said;

“Our visit went well. In fact, it was successful.  The girls we interacted with were friendly, eager to learn, and very cooperative. Most of them were excited we enlightened them on the power of their technology and the judicious use of their smartphones pledged to harness it positively.”

The Damsels on Fire Team will be visiting three Senior High Schools including Holy Trinity Cathedral, Wesley Girls and Danses SHS as part of the Greater Accra tour, before moving to another region.
